In order to be precise, bonsai are not necessarily genetically dwarfed trees but trees from seeds and regular stock that are made to grow small. Does it seem ironic? Growing a tree for bonsai and a huge tree doesn’t have many differences at all; the only difference lie in the bonsai care techniques.

Let’s define the terms first before we proceed with bonsai care. The term is the Japanese pronunciation of the older Chinese term penzai. It is a combination of the words bon which means tray; and sai which means growing or planting therefore the word means tray planting or tray growing. To put it simply, bonsai is a plant in a pot! Over the course of many years, people have thought of it as a type of tree and not the art form that it is. Those who are really interested in bonsai and bonsai care have come to understand in the long run that it is indeed a form of art.
